Some of us admire Loren Estleman, who may be one of the most versatile
of the hard-boiled/noir writers still writing. Donald Westlake's series
about the professional criminal, Parker (written under the pen name
Richard Stark) are quite good, and he's recently resurrected Parker
after a 20 year hiatus (two books so far). If you like your noir with a
British accent, give John Harvey or Bill James a try. Others on the
list will probably have other suggestions, which, I guess, is why we're
here in the first place.
