RARA-AVIS: Fast One -follow up

Tue, 27 Oct 1998 00:07:24 -0800 Since I mentioned "Fast One" I wanted also to comment on some of
the language I noticed while reading it. May be in addition to the
extensive list on the maillist homepage.

Use of "geetus" to mean money. This would be a bit earlier then the
Turner mention on the list. So, it was used as early as '32.

Several drug references "C" for cocaine, and "M" for morphine.
(He also still uses C's to describe $100 bills at times).
Kells got morphine to combat the "screaming heebies" he suffered
after the big fight on the island. I liked "Slug-nutty" to refer to
Kells being doped up for several days after that.

Kells also told someone to watch for "three big pig-skinned keesters"
to go into an apartment building.

Cain's descriptions of Craps and boxing were also incredibly vivid.
