I've had some e-mail problems lately and haven't been able to send
anything to the list. If things are working now, I'd like to say how
much I agree with Bob Skinner about Donald Hamilton's Matt Helm
series. The earlier books have some wonderful hardboiled writing in
them. And I also want to say a good word for Frank McAuliffe's books
about Augustus Mandrell, mentioned originally by Ted White. The three
Mandrell books are my favorite hitman stories. Funny, brilliantly
plotted, and well worth readinf more than once.
