RARA-AVIS: Kiss Me Deadly

Sat, 24 Oct 1998 10:47:41 -0500 (CDT) I seem to remember several folks recommending Robert Aldrich's film of
_Kiss Me Deadly_. I watched it on Turner Classics last night and while it
had some striking imagery, espec. in the conclusion, I thought Ralph Meeker
was robotic (Gaby Rogers is the real star). Anyway, I came away with a
question: Why was much of it so deliberately well lit? Given the Mike's
modish apartment, and all the daytime scenes, much of it was television
style, with few shadows. Just curious as to why it wasn't more
consistently noir in style. Anyone have a lead?
