One is Shella, by Andrew Vacchs. I found this book to be just
incredible. He
usually writes books about Burke (I think that's his name), a
small time con
man. As far as I know, this is his only book not in the
series. It was the
first I read by him, and it really knocked my socks off.
Might not fit in with
the anti-hero idea though. The main character is almost
autistic in certain
ways.
The other ideas, which may or may not be well accepted, are
Ian Fleming's James
Bond books. Short of Chandler and Marlowe, this is my
favorite series of books
around. Fleming is a heck of a writer. Odds are you may have
read them
already though.
I hope this helps, and happy reading!
