A friend gave me one of the Ballad novels, and I thought it
was a good
story, and moderately well told. It had what I thought of as
a
gothic-romance element in it, with a marked emphasis on the
women
characters. Hard-boiled it ain't, but it was a pleasant read.
I doubt
many of the other Rara subscribers would be interested, but
some might.
