RE: RARA-AVIS: Harb-boiled females? (flick)

Sorry if I offended you. I have been an avid reader of mystery fiction
for over 35 years and I admit to conservative taste on moral issues. No,
I am not a Republican and usually sympathize with Democrats on foreign
affairs and social (as distinct from moral) issues.

The remark about puritanism I take as a compliment. I am a
5-point-Calvinist Christian who was not always this way. There is a
tendency nowadays to criticize mindlessly the Puritans and to use this
term despectively. This comes from stereotyping and viewing them with a
narrow, biased eye. I have no such predjuice, though I used to. What
cured me was studying them "in toto" and not with a view to foster a
bias.

I subsrcibed to this list knowingly and am trying to participate in some
of the discussions on it. Though I do dissaprove of some "styles" of
living and of matters such as abortion. I do not hesitate in having
friends and chatting with people who disagree with me strongly on those.
Please do not judge me so harshly or contemptuosly; at least, not yet!

Enrique
