<<Now I'm going to learn about the John D.
MacDonald/Travis McGee
genre... any recommendations?>>
Start at the beginning and read on...occasionally, you'll
find that John
D. gets a little cheesy, or preachy, but his amazing
storytelling
ability silences petty criticisms. I would also recommend the
pre-McGee
(and some post-, too) MacDonald's, almost all of them are
wonderful. He
probably had the widest thematic range of any mystery
writer.
Somethimes I think we don't talk enough about old
MacDonald.
Nevertheless, his presence can be felt here.
