First film I worked on as a production assistant was Phil
Carlson's "The
Young Doctors" in 1960. What a cast!!! Frederick March, Ben
Gazzara,
Dick Clark, Ina Balin, and a host of others. All shot in New
York.
Definitely NOT hard-boiled, rather soppy in fact. What I did
learn
however, that he was an incredibly well-organized director and
the
people on the film said it was because he had been an editor
before
starting his directing career.
This post brought back some sweet memories.
