Congratulations on encountering Sallis. I really enjoy Sallis' work. I
first stumbled across his books during a trip to New Orleans about 4-5
years ago. He's certainly a writer that I'd add to the top 10
under-recognized hard-boiled writers that someone on this list mentioned.

By the way, Sallis has two more recent novels -- one's a spy-type novel,
the other is a fourth Lew (last name escapes me) novel. Haven't read 'em
yet, but they're on the ever-present, ever-growing list.

Oh, besides some poetry, Sallis also wrote a non--fiction work about
Chester Himes (and two other writers I can't recall at the moment -- the
memory is fading early today). -- Duane
