RARA-AVIS: Eugene Izzi anyone?

Sorry if I tend to use the encyclopaedic minds on this list as
an
information resource more than joining in the debates. I am
half way through
Prowlers by Eugene Izzi. I have previously read Invasions and I
picked them
both up second hand when I was desperate for something to read.
They seem
reasonably hard boiled and no less so than Leonard if not as
funny. In the
few months that I have been subscribing I haven't seen his name
come up and
I can't figure out of this is because he isn't terribly
interesting or
whether Rara Avians just cannot bring themselves to discuss a
man called
Eugene.
I think I read some time ago that he died young fairly recently
and that his
personal life was more hard boiled than his writing. Any
further information
is welcome.
