RARA-AVIS: mitchum

Sat, 12 Sep 1998 08:39:13 -0400 (EDT) Regarding Josh's question about the Velvet Underground song: There are no
films called "Paths of Pain" or "Jewels of Glory" (though there is of
course an arguably hardboiled film called "Paths of Glory," screenplay by
J. Thompson, but not starring Mitchum). Mitchum's filmography shows no
films w/ titles anything close to the ones above. So I'm guessing it's
just a hypothetical "old" movie the song refers to. I *can* tell you that
Mitchum starred in 18 (!) movies released in 1943, and that his first
credit (according to imdb) is for *The Magic of Make-Up* (1942), in which
he played a "model." -- Michael
