RARA-AVIS: T.J. Parker's Triggerman's Dance

Fri, 11 Sep 1998 12:18:43 EDT thought Triggerman's Dance was a good return to form for Parker, who cranks
out his lengthy, often generation spanning tomes at a deliberate pace of
around one every two years.

an ambitious author, Parker plays around with past and present tense to
interesting effect in Triggerman's Dance. he's got a new hardcover out, but I
have yet to acquire it.

Summer of Fear IMHO was a disappointment. novel is Parker's first utilization
of 1st person narrative. did not work nearly as well as his previous 3 works,
all in the 3rd person. I wasn't sure if it was because of the change in
perspective or if I'd just gotten wise to his game. but after reading Dance,
I'm inclined to believe the former.

T. Jefferson Parker's novels in general have an unusual degree of emotional
depth and power. he's also a very charming guy, handsome in a Southern
California beach boy kind of way. I hate him.
