In a recent post Kathy Harper wrote that:
"Hard-boiled isn't necessarily a question of subject matter: it has
to do with the *tone* in which a story is written."
I would say that "hard-boiled is a question of attitude; "noir" is a
question of tone or atmosphere, but I think we're on the same page,
BTW good luck on your dissertation, and congrats on getting this far.
