In terms of his other fiction -- His first novel, "The Dark
Page," was
made into an excellent noir starring Broderick Crawford. It
was directed
by the superb and underrated Phil Karlson, and was called
"Scandel
Sheet." Well worth a view.
BTW, an interesting early quasi-noir which he co-wrote is
called
"Shockproof," starring Cornell Wilde. It is worth noting,
because it's
one of the few noirish excursions by the great fifties meller
director
Douglas Sirk ...
How's that for film buff trivia?
