RARA-AVIS: Two latest purchases

Wed, 9 Sep 1998 20:22:13 -0400 (EDT) I stopped in at Jamie Fraser's book store the other day. He's the
Toronto specialist in pulps and old mysteries and SF. (I have no
connection to him aside from having been in his store a few times.) I
looked over a stack of Shell Scotts, but ended up just getting _The
Gift Horse_ by Frank Gruber ("Wine, women and four runts" ?) and
_Black Is the Fashion for Dying_, by Jonathan Latimer. This was
Latimer's last novel, and he seems to have used his Hollywood
experiences as a background.

I'm in the middle of a big thick book right now, but I'm looking
forward to reading these two.

Oh, and if anyone's collecting W.R. Burnett firsts, he's getting in
about a dozen next week.

Bill
