Read the above at Salon on electronic books. The article
comments on the
expense of hard copy publication is causing less and less
authors to be
published and for those who are, the runs are getting
shorter. I see
electronic publishing as an opportunity for works that would
not normally
be re-released as being released in soft copy format due to
the significant
decrease in overhead (I also see the publishing world
charging just as much
for soft format as hard though). What do ya'll think of
trading in the
pulp for electrons? What if it's the only way to get a work
sans visiting
the library?
No, I'm not a marketer or affiliated with the publishing
industry in any
manner if someone's worried that I'm doing marketing research
for free ...
yeah, I'm paranoid ... actually, I asked on a news group once
what
everyone's reading and there were quite a few posts asking
why I wanted to
know and exactly what I was going to do with the
information.
