He brought out the expanded second edition for Pulpcon this
year. I don't
know how much he's asking for it, I forgot to ask, but it
will be worth it
for those interested in real (meaning published in pulp
magazine) pulp
fiction.
I've found the first edition useful in helping to figure out
what to order
and what books I need to help fill in my pulp reprint
collection. I'm
looking forward to getting my copy of the new edition.
It's advertised as 134 pages including a 14-page character
index. I've seen
the page on Hammett's Continental Op which lists every op
story, and which
book they were printed in. Keys is mostly checklists of
character
appearances and indexes of pulp-related publications and
zines. It also has
Tom Johnson's character checklists for the Popular and
Thrilling pulp
heroes.
Also, I think it's Brian Brown who published a somewhat
related index of
recently reprinted pulp fiction that makes a nice compliment
to Keys, but I
don't have contact information on it.
And yes, in case you were wondering, John's a friend of
mine.
