Ah, The Long Good Friday. What a movie, Mark. But the
gangsters--the REALLY
HEAVY ones are Irish--not British. IRA provos are the most
dangerous gangsters
of all and would garotte you without a second thought if you
called them
British.
Wonderful trip to U.K. and thanks for the description. By the
way, there was
also a character named Rafferty in a grade b romance/thriller
paperbook whose
title escapes me but it came and went quickly around 16 years
ago. This
Rafferty was named Terrence Rafferty (after the critic, I
presume) and was
described as a Vietnam vet who rode a motorcycle and had the
bluest eyes the
heroine had ever seen. The book is trash and not worth
remembering, but I am
interested in reading the Rafferty serial-killer books. Thanks.
