RARA-AVIS: peter corris & mark timlin

Tue, 1 Sep 1998 02:18:35 -0400 (EDT) Okay, I just got back from the UK. Unfortunately for my bookshelves,
but fortunately for my wallet, I didn't have all that much time to shop.
Still, I found a few things. But I also came away with a few questions.

First, I think I have picked up all of the Peter Corris books, featuring
his detective Cliff Hardy, that have been published in the States. But
there is a gap between the first twelve or so which ended with Cliff
Hardy setting off to confront his half-year lover and her husband (I
forget the name of that book, it's in a box that I'm too tired to pull
out right now). His recent US paperback publisher has put out Wet
Graves, Matrimonial Causes and Beware of the Dog (not in chronological
order). So I am missing at least one book between the two publishers, I
never did get to read the confrontation. Can someone tell me the name
of it so I can order it (in print in UK or just Australia)? Also, I ran
across a non-Hardy book by Corris. Has he written many books outside
the series? Are they any good?

Secondly, I picked up a Mark Timlin or two. Can anyone help me with the
order of the Nick Sharman books? Is there character development through
them, in other words, will they be enhanced if I read them in order?

Allison & Busby has put out The Parker Omnibus Vol. 1, which collects
three of Stark's (Westlake's) Parker novels. So my question is why are
they not the first three? A & B owns the rights, they already put some
of them out individually. I know, you'll say they didn't want to
compete with themselves by duplicating titles, but they do duplicate,
just not the first three. It reminds me that the first Parker I read
had a great big "1" on the cover. However, it was Slayground, which was
really the 14th in the series.
