Cut. I especially like the latter.

I thought of another female-written novels that is definitely
hardboiled, Dirty Weekend by Helen Zahavi. I've been told this created
a bit of an uproar when it came out in the UK, or maybe it was the film
adaptation (which i haven't seen) that sparked the to do. It is about a
female who, to paraphrase Travis Bickle, would not take it. One day she
has finally had enough and takes care of every man who wrongs her, all
crimes against this woman merit the death penalty, from simple
harassment to more serious offenses. Hardboiled to the max.

I read it a few years ago, but thought it was quite good, and it moves
along at a very fast clip.
