RARA-AVIS: British writers

Wed, 19 Aug 1998 23:29:34 -0400 (EDT) It's quiet . . . too quiet.

Okay, to get something started, not to mention getting some needed info:
I've been getting into a number of the British hardboiled writers
lately. I already knew Derek Raymond and Ted Lewis, but I've recently
started reading some others. I've picked up a number of books by the
Fresh Blood (Russell James, Mark Timlin, Ian Rankin), Bloolines (Jerry
Raine, Ken Bruen) and Mask Noir (James, again, Nicholas Blincoe, Bruen
again) authors. I have also read James Hawes, Jeremy Cameron and
Christopher Brookmyre. Although he's not exactly hardboiled, more
viciously funny in a more Hiassen way, I've also enjoyed Charles Higson.

Anyway, I'm going to London next week and was wondering if anyone could
recommend other authors I should pick up there that I can't find in the
States. Thanks for any help.

Mark
