I recently read Frederic Browne's _The Screaming Mimi_, and
there's a
lot of drinking in there. Come to think of it, I think Browne
drank a
lot ... and so did Hammett ... and so did Chandler ... I
don't know
about Latimer or others. Didn't Woolrich really put it back?
