I hope you're not expecting the Burglar books to be hardboiled. I've
read a few and they can be entertaining, but they are light, fluffy
tongue-in-cheek fare. I've also recently picked up the Chip Harrisons,
but haven't gotten to them yet. I think I read somewhere that they
started out as teen sex farces, but became Block's homage to Nero Wolfe.

And even though Block has a large number of books in print, it isn't all
of them. As usual, the missing are the hardboiled ones. Carrol and
Graf reprinted a few of his early paperback originals a few years ago.
A few years before that Foul Play Press published some of the others.
They are all pretty great, but The Girl with the Long Green Heart (a
great con novel, by the way), Mona and Such Men Ae Dangerous are among
the best. Deadly Honeymoon is particularly brutal, which opens with a
virginal bride being raped in front of her husband on their wedding
night. The rest of the book follows the couple's quest for revenge.
The C & G books can still be found in some stores, they're all worth
picking up.

Mark
