I watched Tom Waits perform "Small Change Just Got Rained on by His Own
.38" on the Mike Douglas show 25+ years ago. Douglas, never at a loss
for words, was at a loss for words when interviewing Waits. Waits'
ciggie-drenched voice and the lyrics, none of which I remember, I
thought were pretty cool.

For those that don't remember, Douglas conducted a daytime talk show
along the lines of Oprah Winfrey and others.
