I did like the other movies Kevin Smith named. Plus, I'm beginning to
think I'm the only person in the world who liked the movie version of
Touch--it was so nice to see Christopher Walken act again in that (and
in Suicide Kings), instead of his ever increasing overacting, which,
admittedly, can be great fun (like in the totally over the top Wild
Side). Still, the 5 movies Kevin names are far less than half of the
Leonard adaptations, plus three have been in the last few years. There
is a long track string of bad movies. I mean, how can you screw up Cat
Chaser or Stick? But they did.>>

I haven't seen all the movies made from Leonard books, but I have to say
that a lot of them were badly handled.

TOUCH, on the other hand, was wild and marvelous in a way completely
different from most Leonard movies. I hadn't read the novel when I saw the
film, so I had no real expectations about the story -- although I've often
been surprised by the films by director Paul Schrader. l recommend this
movie, but warn Rara-Avians that it's not your run-of-the-mill crime/con
movie. -- Duane
