It was probably $.05 pulp. But that doesn't mean that it should
be
automatically denegrated. There was a certin amount of pulp
that has
been re/discovered and will be known, 100 years from now.. In
fact I
believe that the nature of the pulps helped create some of this
great
work. There are a number of authors who wrote terrific books
that
probably wouldn't have been possible if thy weren't published
as pulps,
because pulps weren't edited as much. The authors got to write
what
they wanted, not what an editor thought would sell. I'd
certinly also
include Chester Himes in this category.
