Re: RARA-AVIS: Willeford

Sun, 2 Aug 1998 20:29:28 -0400 (EDT) Boy, I wish the used bookstores around DC were as good as those where
Mario lives; I have yet to find a used vintage Goodis (although I have
colected the John Evans/Howard Brownes). I am happy to have gotten all
of the Black Lizard reprints, plus the recent Midnight Classics (Serpent
Tail) reprint of Blonde on the Street Corner. Maybe they'll do more, I
hope so.

Not only does England seems to do better by their best writers, they
seem to do better by ours also. For insatnce, all of the Chester Himes
Coffin Ed and Gravedigger Jones novels have recently been collected into
3 three-book volumes by Payback Press. And the Parker (Richard
Stark/Donald Westlake's character, not Robert B.) novels have been in
print far more recently over here than they have here.

Oh well,
Mark
