It'd be really interesting to see how the hb genre wroks/gets re-worked
in other cultural settings.

Should we try to compile a list of about half-a-dozen specifically non-
North American novels that we could use to follow hb's migratory trail?

I think non-UK rara-avians might enjoy Timlin. Raymond/Cook is probably
quite well known already, though he provides a neat bridge (chunnel?)
between English and European writing.
