RARA-AVIS: Channel Surfin'...

Tue, 21 Jul 1998 20:54:26 -0500 Well, in just a few days, we'll be able (well, some of us) to see HBO's
take on Chandler's and Parker's Poodle Springs. Even assuming you didn't
like Parker's completion of Chandler's beginning, he at least built on what
Chandler had started. From what I've heard, HBO has changed some stuff
around. Poodle Springs is no longer a slap at Palm Springs, but just a
small town where Marlowe and his sweetie live. And care-free rich party
girl Linda Loring is now Laura Parker, a working attorney. I don't get HBO,
but if someone does, and they get to check it out (I think it starts this
weekend) please pass the word. James Caan as an aging Marlowe might be
interesting.

Also, coming soon (next week?) to a boobtube is a weekly series based on
Elmore Leonard's Maximum Bob, starring Beau Bridges. Hmmmm...

And has anyone seen Out of Sight? It's been getting good reviews, even with
George Clooney in it...

Oh, and I don't think we should have fiction on the list, but maybe we
should have someone ask every now and then...that was fun...
