I assume you are talking about the unforgettable and
inimitable Peter
("Fer de Lance") Lance. He was publishered and
aggresively
self-promotered, which won him mention in the crime journal
of record,
the Wall Street Journal. Kevin Smith has Lance's rant posted
in his
thrilling detective page - as an introduction to rara-avis.
