OK I admit it. I'm doing a bloody crossword puzzle. Thanks out

for all your helpful suggestions but this is getting serious.
Normally I hate - and I mean hate - crossword puzzles but I
picked up
a copy of the No Exit Press 1989 crime anthology 't other day
and its
got this bloody infuriating crossword in it. Since I know the
guy who
runs No Exit Press I thought I'd send in the completed thing 10
years
late and claim my prize - every NEP book in print. Ho, bloody
ho.
Great joke. It's driving me mad.

isn't Bertha Cool, unfortunately,'cos the words are 5 and
4
- not 6 and 4 - which is a bit of a sod. Anyone who can name
"Carroll John Daly's royal bad guy (7,2,4)" will earn my life
long
friendship and if you can crack:
"Annoyed Ronay or aggreived Spengler (10,4)
I will probably burst into tears. I mean - what the **** does
that
mean?? Are they characters in books? Authors? And, more to the
point,
why am I unable to get to sleep because of it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
