RE: RARA-AVIS: doing crank

Tue, 28 Apr 1998 14:29:04 -0400 Crank is a term for methamphetamine (sp?), also known as crystal meth,
or speed. I believe Kent Harrington uses the term "crank" in his book.
It is a chemical stimulate produced in labs, so its production does not
rely on coca leaves. California abounds in meth labs, hidden in all
manner of neigborhoods, up- and downscale. Crank, a sort of working
man's cocaine, is also a white powder, usually snorted, though also
smokable and, I imagine, injectable. It is also a drug of choice among
bikers and, I believe, among truckers. Not that I know much of anything
about such sordid stuff. Someone once told me that he didn't meet a
single woman in Indianapolis who didn't do crank, but I have no outside
confirmation on this assertion (apologies to hoosiers).
