There were losts of "advance reader copies" sent out, but Vachss refuses
to sign them; however, when he was last in Dallas he was signing comic
books like crazy and chatting up fans like I had never seen before. Most
of the "fans" were folks from the medical community [he had come from
speaking at Baylor and from Houston with some psychologists who are
following an experiment of children who are exposed to violence and what
has happened to them over the years] whom I could not imagine in my
wildest dreams reading anything like Vachss, but he had a whole new
segment of the population as fans.
