Re: RARA-AVIS: Pulp Images

Thu, 16 Apr 1998 21:28:39 -0500 (CDT) I have visited James Stephenson's site of pulp covers and recommend it.
Printed a couple to help me illustrate the seedbeds of hard-boiled. High
quality, especially the one of the guy with the soft drink can. He looks
so nice you just know he's up to no good.

In line with Frank Denton's recommendation of a survey of pulps (Pulp
Culture), I have a title I ran across from the mid-80s that may still be in
print, Thomas L. Bonn's _Undercover: An Illustrated History of American
Mass Market Paperbacks_, Penguin paperback. Good survey of the rise and
fall of paperback publishers, together with a survey of cover designs.
