the first script I was hired to do in 1993 was to feature Stacy as an older
Hammer, trying to adjust to life in retirement. but in their infinite wisdom,
CBS decided to create an all new, young Mike Hammer and stick him in the
location of the moment- Miami. the anti-violence on tv movement was huge back
then as it was an election year, and I was "advised" to tone things down. so
I made it funny and titled it DEADER THAN EVER.

the movie aired as COME DIE WITH ME. tanked in the ratings while I was
writing the follow up. it's gathering dust on my shelf at this very moment.
executive producer Jay Bernstein then managed to sell Stacy in the current
syndicated version that Jennifer is working on. that's show biz.
