RARA-AVIS: TWILIGHT

Thu, 5 Mar 1998 07:18:32 -0800 (PST) I saw a screening of the movie TWILIGHT last night.

It stars Gene Hackman, Paul Newman and Susan Sarandon. James Garner also has
a featured role. Newman is an ex-cop (he mentions at least 3 times that
after the force "he really hit the sauce") living with Sarandon and Hackman
(a married couple). Garner takes the role of a friend and also former cop.
It is noirish, or meant to be. I didn't enjoy it and I do not recommend it.
Too many throwaway lines, unnecessary characters, plods along. Garner was
very good. The others were fine. The script stunk. I think they must have
run out of money midway and the investor they found insisted on having his
way with the film. A disappointment.
