The article describing it all is "I Care Who Killed Roger
Ackroyd," by
John Leonard, in the August 1975 "Esquire." Leonard, who was
about to
join the NYTBR (it says "Book Review" here, not "Review of
Books") and
Raymond Sokolov (working at "Newsweek") met in February 1969
and ended
up plotting their little scheme.
