I watched Michael Dibdin [sp?] interview Elmore Leonard on _The Late
Show_ last night (an old video tape of the BBC2 series, not a recent
broadcast). According to the interview, Leonard slips easily from third
person narrative to interior monologue. I think the point was also made
by Martin Amis in a tape insert.

However, having not actually read Leonard (though I did listen to an
audio tape of 52 Pick Up a few years ago) I cannot comment on this
aspect of his writing.
