RARA-AVIS: Re: crime novel

example of Elmore Leonard doesn't fit entirely as I think of Leonard more in
the humorous caper category. The term crime novel is identified to me more
as an English term along with their "thriller".

Mystery novel is to me more of a puzzle as it's so broad. You could call
almost anything that as long as there's a mystery somewhere. I prefer more
defined terms like: detective story, classic English puzzle, cozy, etc.

In fact, I'm starting to get pretty confused. How about some more help here?
