RARA-AVIS: Familiar with these new books?

Sandra Hess (shess@sirius.com)
Fri, 16 Jan 1998 11:52:13 -0500 (EST) Scanning DETAILS last night, I ran into short write-ups of two new books:
LIKE A HOLE IN THE HEAD by Jen Banbury (Little,Brown) and DARK CITY: THE
LOST WORLD OF FILM NOIR (by Eddie Muller (Griffin).

LIKE A HOLE IN THE HEAD was described thus: "Raymond Chandler meets Daria to
create slacker noir in the form of a compulsively readable shaggy-dog story
about a caustic bookstore clerk/babe who gets sucked into a homicidal search
for an extremely rare book."

DARK CITY: THE LOST WORLD OF FILM NOIR was described thus: "This ultimate
companion to gritty black-and-white postwar classics like THE BIG HEAT and
THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL reveals that the dark stars led desperate,
nefarious lives both on-screen and off."

Has anyone read these or have you any word-of-mouth?

Thanks and a half,

Sandra
