Sat, 10 Jan 1998 22:55:07 -0600 (CST) Thought R-A subscribers might be interested in knowing that the Jan. 5th
London Times reports that the BBC's list of the 100 seminal artistic works
(excluding music) of the 20th Century actually includes one of "our"
writers--Raymond Chandler for The Big Sleep. Hitchcock also made the list
for Rear Window. There will be a radio program on each of these works in
"The Centurion" series.

BBC producers were asked to nominate the century's most influential works,
and their list of 800 was whittled down by a panel consisting of John Carey
and Jean Aitchison of Oxford University, the novelist Antonia Byatt, and
the art critic and broadcaster Bryan Robertson.

Info taken from the Modbrits listserv.
