Re: RARA-AVIS: David Goodis bibliography (novels)

Fri, 12 Dec 1997 00:13:54 +0000 Was "Of Missing Persons" ever reissued? I have been unable to find a
copy at a decent price...and none of the libraries I've used has had
it...so I've never been able to read the damn thing.

It's always a mixed blessing when a helpful gentleman like Eddie trots
out something like this - and annoys the hell out of collectors because
all they see is the titles that they *don't* have, highlighted in neon.
It's hard being a collector; tougher than walking down those mean
streets.

As an act of pure spite, I'll try to put on stage a complete list of the
works of William Campbell Gault (most of which will probably never be
reissued). For, if truth be known, Gault collectors have it even harder
than Goodis collectors.

Now, what is the best first sentence (I hesitate to talk about an
"incipit") of a hardboiled novel, ever?

Regards, and thanks to Eddie.
