RE: RARA-AVIS: Worst casting in films (was Back Atcha, Fred!)

Fri, 21 Nov 1997 10:29:18 -0500 I'm not sure that this is a case of worst casting--more of, for me at
least, unexpected casting. After reading each Easy Rawlins novel as it
came out, I always pictured Easy as a big guy--more of a Forrest
Whitaker type. So when Devil In A Blue Dress was shot as a movie, I was
a bit surprised to find that Denzil Washington was cast. Let me
rephrase--Washington is a very bankable star that any movie producer
would want for a film. But from reading the books, I can't say that he
was my first choice for meeting what I pictured as Easy's physical type.

But that's beside the point. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.--Duane
