The writing is a bit simple I would say. But that's L. Block's
style. He has
three detectives that I know about: Matt Scudder, Bernie
Rhodenbarr (a
burglar), and a thief whose name escapes me for the moment. I
don't know
about the group's opinion on block but I do have one of my own:
sometimes he
is great, and sometimes he is really bad. The majority of the
Bernie
Rhodenbarr novels are awful, to me at least, and most of the
Matt Scudder are
extremely good. (read dance at the slaughter house and eight
million ways to
die.) I've never read the other thief. L Block to my knowledge,
which is
fading everyday, also has written science fiction. Correct me
if I'm wrong.
