This is an opportunity I can't overlook! The author of the Patrick
Petrella series is the great Michael Gilbert, now 85 years old and
still writing a novel a year as well as short stories. My publishing
house, Crippen & Landru, just (the books arrived Friday) published Michael's
short story collection, THE MAN WHO HATE D BANKS AND OTHER MYSTERIES.
The title story and 2 others are about Petrella, and the book also
includes three noir stories (probably the hardest-boiled Gilbert has
written) about rogue cop Bill Mercer. For more info, you may e-mail
me, or check our web site: http://www.avalon.net/~scott/cl/ Our
web-guru promises that a color photo of the cover of MAN WHO HATED
will be posted by Thursday.

Our next three short story collections won't be very noirish--they're
by Ed Hoch, Peter Lovesey, and P. M. Carlson. But toward the
middle and end of next year we have collections scheduled by Bill
Pronzini, Jerry Healy, Ed Gorman, and Michael Collins.

Is there an acornym for Blatant Publisher Promotion?
