RARA-AVIS: reading

I've dropped the ball on where the reading is. Also, has the
vote been
tallied for the next reading?
It seems to me that we were to have finished the
_Hard-Boiled_
collection, maybe last week, but there were no comments? I have
a few
words on the last three stories. I'm not a big Ellroy fan, but
I
thought his was the best. Frankly, I thought the other stories
got a
little bogged down in, well, issues. They were "do-gooder"
stories (the
Block and Gorman stories), subordinating their action to their
points.
This summation is a little too black and white. I thought all
the
stories were still worth reading.
