any of the novels by a writer named Bardin? I think John Franklin Bardin
is his full name. Penguin reprinted three or four of his books a few
years ago, but I believe they're out of print now. I read one several
years ago--I can't recall the title, but the gist of the plot was about
a fellow (an advertising writer, I think) who thought he was going
crazy. Actually, his wife or a business partner or someone was
gaslighting him and framing him for a crime. A pretty good story, with a
>kind of herky-jerky style that fit the confused, "disoriented and
