RARA-AVIS: Library of America

The Library of America has released two volumes titled _Crime_Novels_.
The first has novels from the 1930s and 1940s, the second has novels
from the 1950s. Both volumes, numbered 94 and 95 respectively, are
edited by Robert Polito, who (I think) wrote the Jim Thompson biography
_Savage_Art_.

The selections are pretty good, though some are already pretty
available, I think: James M. Cain's _Postman_ and Patricia Highsmith's
_The_Talented_Mr._Ripley_, for example.--Duane
