Hardboilled fans may be interested in knowing that a UK
publisher,
Serpent's Tail, has reprinted Pelecanos' hard-to-find first
novel,
_A_Firing_Offense_, in paperback. ST published it under their
Mask Noir
imprint of crime books, which also includes books by Derek
Raymond,
Walter Mosley, Julian Rathbone, Russell James and Maxim
Jakubowski. ST
also has a "Midnight Classics" series of reprints, which
includes Horace
McCoy's novels.

Their books are distributed in the US by Consortium, which
specializes
in small press books. I've had the most luck finding ST books
at smaller
